Kakai Kilonzo’s celebrated Akamba band mostly recorded for the Kakai Kilonzo Sound, New Mwania Sound and Kilimambogo Brothers labels, so it was a surprise when MKP 01 turned up for sale in London in January 2009 at Sounds of the Universe.

In November 2010, Sofiane of Groovy Record in Paris confirmed that this wasn’t a one-off by very kindly providing details of MKP 02 and MKP 007 on the label, and Fredrik Lavik of the Afro7 blog supplied the information about MKP 006 in May 2013.
