Kendu Revolution are here produced by George Opiyo on a label distributed by AIT and dedicated to Luo benga bands. The driving forces within the band appear to be Sam Oketch and Samwel Ajock.
Kendu Jazz Band and variants on the name have singles on Kundi, Matata, Melodica, Sibuor and Sungura. As there are also Kendu Revolutions ’73 and ’74, it seems strange that these singles are both dated 1974 - unless, of course, the band was prone to frequent schisms and breakaways.
Both Gem Lucky and Owilla Lakeside recorded extensively for
other labels, but this is the only single encountered so far by Ukwala Matata Jazz.
Jojo 7-1 and 7-4 come from the collection of Op of the skafunkrastapunk forum, Jojo 5, 6 and 7 are from the VoA library.
The two singles with a JJP prefix are from the University of Mainz collection and were added in September 2011. It isn’t clear why the prefix changed.
