BANA BERU
Information on all but two of these singles comes from AIT’s own records. The label’s raison d’etre isn’t clear, offering a mixed batch of predominantly Luo and Luhya bands.
BB16 is a Daudi Kabaka produced single by the Luhya band of Shem Tube, who also led Abana Ba Nasery. This group also recorded for Luanda Magere, albeit with its name spelled several different ways.
In September 2011, several holes in the early part of the Bana Beru catalogue were filled by records held in the University of Mainz’s African Music Archive. It, however, has two records listed as BB 7-7. These are in bold font until I can establish the correct numbering.
