Thanks to Fredrik Lavik of Norway for supplying details of NO 11 in September 2011. The undated label says the record was produced and published by A.C. Kochomo for Jaca Ltd. The same partnership was behind recordings on the Editions Bana-Likasi, Editions Tobina, Safari, Odar Mach and Edition Jaca labels.

The Suku Band aka Suku Jazz Band were led by Sukuma Bin Ongaro, an influential Luhya musician who is still playing in Nairobi at the age of 62 according to a report in the East African Standard on May 8, 2008. Two songs by Sukuma Bin Ongaro appear on the Guitar Paradise of East Africa CD (Earthworks/Virgin, 1990).

NO 1 turned up on eBay in March 2016. It’s another Kochomo production, though this time there is no mention of Jaca Ltd on the label. The songs are again in Luhya, though Wesley Barasa’s band are less well known and only recorded a handful of records.
