A label from City Sounds of Nairobi, a company most often linked with Joseph Kamaru and Kikuyu bands yet which also had a hand in the release of records in both Lingala and Akamba too.

Special Baruti, though, recorded in Kiswahili both here and for the Sounds So Sweet label.

Pauly Becquart in Tanzania very kindly sent in details of SEM 01 in November 2012. With a reggae-inflected beat, it clearly dates from the 1980s. Whether it was the first release on the label - as its catalogue number suggests - is unclear.
