OLIK TIGA

The Kenya Gazette for 7 January 1977 notes that Olik Tiga is Dholuo for “bat” and lists the date of the registration of this label’s trademark as being 3 April 1976. The Gazette puts it alongside the December, Kung Fu and Omuga Nyakanga labels as being registered by the Hit Sounds company of PO Box 28331, Mfangano St, Nairobi. It appears to be another outlet for CA Kochomo productions of Luo benga bands.

OT 3 showed up on Ebay in October 2009 and vanished before I had a chance to get an image of the label. In April 2011 Sofiane of Groovy Record in Paris supplied details of OT 67 and supplied the missing label scan. OT 46 appeared on the CD&LP.com site in November 2013. It has a blue rather than red label design.

DO Misiani’s DO7 Shirati Jazz recorded prolifically. See the Bands Index for a list of the band’s labels. Orch Ruka Ruka on the other hand appear in only one other place in this discography with a single release on the Oyieyo Ringo label.
