This band from Kisii district in western Kenya cut records for a couple of other labels – see the Bands Index for an up-to-date list. Here they are recorded by entrepreneurial producer and politician Phares Oluoch Kanindo.

A Google search reveals that the label name is usually written as mwanyagetinge, a word that means ‘a married Kisii man’ or, more iterally, ‘he who owns a getinge’, the ankle bracelets worn by married Kisii women.
