A Kikuyu band, Mbiri Stars also recorded as Mbiri Young Stars and Mbiri Hot Stars but in every case the key figure was Simon Kihara Wamumbe, known universally as Musaimo. One of the veterans of Kenyan music, Musaimo was still active into the 21st century, playing a US tour in 2009 and appearing at a concert to mark Daniel Kamau’s 45 years in music in Nairobi in 2010.

Update: MBIRI 02 surfaced on the CD&LP.com website in November 2013. What the connection is between this band and the better-known Mbiri Stars is unclear. The A-side title is as listed by the seller, unfortunately there was no label scan to confirm it is correct.
